It's actually pretty simple: we're trying to find out whether you can record bats by strapping a microphone to a small plane, multicopter or boat that then flies/drives itself around.
We're hoping that this might turn out to be useful for bat work in research or conservation.

TWO TOMS
Tom M is a keen UAV builder, operator and tinkerer. Tom is the brains behind all the technical wizardry of this project and is responsible if things fall out of the sky. Tom is based in London and punches holes in polos for his day job.
Tom A is a keen bat enthusiast having studied for 4 years to get a PhD in bat ecology. Tom is not a big expert in bat echolocation but hopes nobody will ask too many questions. Tom lives near Oxford and earns his money bending paperclips.
